WELCOME TO SADC SUGAR DIGEST MAGAZINE
Sugar production is an important agricultural activity in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as it creates employment, sustains rural development and has immeasurable potential for the development of green economies.
Consumption of sugar in sub-Saharan Africa is expected to rise from an estimated 8.5 million tons currently to 11.8 million tons by 2020, according to the International Sugar Organisation. As a result, considerable expansion is expected in the SADC region, which will no doubt attract a “flurry” of economic activity over the next three to five years.
The SADC Sugar Digest is the only publication tracking this growing industry and its activities across the region with top level commentary and insight.
